With success comes responsibility

Because of the great success of the tournament and the success of the Lions on the pitch, our affiliation with the community grew and the Amsterdam Lowlands decided to share their success with charity.

Last night Lowlands donated to the food bank 'voedselbank', a voluntary associations combating exclusion and malnutrition by handing out food to the less fortunate.

We also would like to take the opportunity to congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Sies with their Martin Luther King lifetime achievement award, an award well deserved.

And the winner is...

Ladies and gentlemen,

Lowlands has come to an end and has brought several highlights to remember. The audience could enjoy the great weather, bouncing music and the thrilling games. The refs had their hands full thanks to the intensity all the teams brought. The organization wanted to make everything go as smooth as possible. Individually, players competed in the 1Lacrosse fasted shot competition and the Prolax Skill shot competition. And as a team they did everything they could and gave it all in an effort to win the grand pri(z/c)e: The Lowlands Tournament Cup!

It was great to see how all teams put effort in playing smart, strong and did a serious try to win the cup. After tough, hard fought games, only one team in both women and men division could be the winner.

Finals

In the women's division, The Dutch National team had to give in to the quick and tight playing Jin & Juice, which won the final with 5-9 and took home the Lowlands Tournament Cup 2009!

The men's final was a game on the edge. Spencer won the first game against the Amsterdam Lions in the group match, but in the final the Lions started off strong. Although the Lions fought hard, it was soon clear that it was not an easy game. Amsterdam coming ahead with 2 goals and Spencer making it even, that was the story almost all game long. But when the whistle was blown Spencer was to late to recover their mistakes, making the Lions the convincing winner in a hard fought battle for the Lowlands Tournament Cup 2009 with an 8-6 victory.

Appreciation

The organization would like to thank the fans, refs and the teams who, all together, made Lowlands 2009 a great event! But most of all they would like to thank Spencer's most sexy player Glenn, who is a must have on the fields ánd at the parties. Being a beast on the field and a gentlemen off the field makes him thé ambassador of the Lowlands Tournament, who has never missed an edition of this annual event. Keep up the great work, Glenn!

The Lions are proud to be the winner for the first time of their own tournament. All Lions gave everything ón the field and óff the field to make everyone feel at home and that is exactly what we will do next year!

Hope to see you all next year when Lowlands returns bigger, better and faster!

Start of the season 09

Yesterday, March 1st, the Rotterdam Jaguars organized the first game day of the season 09 and combined it with the official opening of their club house and lacrosse field, the first official lacrosse field in The Netherlands!

After the field was opened officially, the Tooze had their first game against the Keizerstad Kannibalz. It was a though game, but in the final seconds Chiron made the winning goal!

The first game on the first official lacrosse field in the Netherlands is a fact.

At the same time the Lionesses did a great job as well against Nijmegen. The girls from Amsterdam beat them with 17-2, a result to be proud of!

After the tooze and girls started their season succesfully it was time for the  first team to play against the Den Haag Knights. The Lions started the game with convidence and throughout the game they had by far the most ball possession. Although the Lions did not got in trouble throughout the game, they were not able to convert the better play into goals, also thanks to the great goal tending by the goalie from the Delft Barons (who helped The Knights out due to lack of attendence by The Knights). The final result was 3-2 for the Lions and although it is not the result they hoped for, it is great to start the season with a winning game.

Yesterday was great start for Amsterdam Lacrosse, we will get better and aim for the highest possible!

Our thanks and appreciation goes out to The Rotterdam Jaguars for the opening of the season and we would like to congratulate them with their own lacrosse field.
